Located within part of the former Grade II* Octagon Chapel, Milsom Place, the Spin Village provided a unique and challenging project for the design team.

Whilst the demands of a cycling studio would seem counter to the constraints of a listed building, we could show that the need to provide independent acoustic walls within the listed building – rather than interacting with it – was a harmonious combination of building and use.

The facilities provide an exclusive indoor cycling studio with state-of-the-art spinning room, changing & showering facilities. The high-end specification and exacting finish ensured the boutique style that the client demanded.

Initially a comprehensive Statement of Historical Significance was produced with a detailed analysis of the building’s history using archival, cartographic and evidential research. The design proposals and subsequent technical information ensured that no harm was caused to the historic fabric of the building, with the creation of rooms independent of the existing fabric. The floor was particularly challenging, constructed in a raised position after detailed consultation with an Acoustic Engineer.
