A full planning and listed building consent application will soon be submitted for the redevelopment of the Penallta Colliery site, located off Winding Wheel Lane, Penallta, CF82 6AN.

The documents available on this page set out the proposed development and are provided for residents and consultees to view as part of the pre-application consultation process, prior to the formal submission of the planning and listed building consent applications.

The proposals include the redevelopment of the Penallta Colliery Power Hall building to provide residential apartments, together with the construction of new townhouses and apartment buildings elsewhere on the site. In total, the development would provide 193 residential units and two commercial units, along with landscaped communal spaces throughout the site. The proposals also include the restoration of the historic Power Hall and winding wheels, enabling this important heritage asset to be brought back into active use.

The planning application is expected to be submitted following the completion of the 28-day consultation period on Friday 10 April 2026.
